Milestones and great causes...
Late last year, my friend Mike Toner called me up and gave me something completely different.
Usually, our phone calls would consist of artists and music and business and the occasional "look out, I'm coming your way" type banter but out of the blue, he said that I should take part in this "charity fun run" he was organising... Off the cuff I said yes. As the weeks went by, I slowly realised what I actually got myself in to...........
Ladies and Gents, yours truly is doing a FULL MARATHON (all 42kms of it) on the 17th of May for the Fred Hollows Foundation in behalf of Mike Toner. I have never done this or anything remotely close to this distance ever in my life. My legs are not made for running, nor are they for distance but on this occasion and probably this one only, they will be.
Leading up to the run from now, I will be taking donations as this is a fund raising event for the foundation. The great thing about this whole event is Mike's passion for the work Fred Hollows Foundation and the work he does with them on a regular basis - So please get behind us wether it be for the good cause... or maybe just because you might feel a little bit sorry for me.?
My initial sponsors, onesixone and Squire's Loft Essendon will be backing me. My coach has already cracked down on my weekend antics and i've given myself a little head start on the training side.
Thank you to my donors and sponsors in advance. Thanks for the opportunity too Mike!... If there is anyone else keen to run by my side, drop me a line and I'll go over it with you.
LETS FREAKIN DO THIIISSSSSS!???
GOR Marathon 2020 for Fred Hollows
Over 25 million people are needlessly blind on this planet but a simple procedure costing as little as $25 in most developing countries can restore their sight and change their lives for ever!
I raise money for The Fred Hollows Foundation because they help train and empower local eye doctors, nurses and health workers and create a sustainable system of care in the communities that need our help the most.
Their work has a very clear purpose: to make sure everyone, whether they’re rich or poor, has access to high quality, affordable eye health as we enjoy right here in this country.
Thank you for your support
