I'm aiming to smash my fundraising target and my target time
For anyone that knows me, fitness and wellbeing has often taken a backseat to my career and lifestyle. During the 2020 Covid outbreak, I decided to turn a shit situation in to a positive. It would've been easy to do nothing as my twin industries of hospitality and entertainment were brought to their knees - but I decided to take some steps to improve my life and that of those around me.
A focus on improving my physical fitness has been one of these steps and through Quick As Thieves I've been able to set myself a fitness goal and raise some money for an amazing cause along the way.
My goal is to run a half marathon (21km) in under 2 hours. This would be a cracking pace for me, but have been training hard and am hopeful of smashing it!
Currently 43 million people around the world are blind but 9 out of 10 don't have to be!
A simple procedure costing as little as $25 in most developing countries can restore their sight and change their lives and the lives of their families and communities for ever!
I run at the Quick As Thieves event with Mike Toner on 25th November and together we raise money for The Fred Hollows Foundation so they are able to continue train and empower local eye doctors, nurses and health workers and create a sustainable system of care in the communities that need our help the most.
Their work has a very clear purpose: to make sure everyone, whether they’re rich or poor, has access to high quality, affordable eye health as we enjoy right here in this country.
