Throughout her life, Ilse was generous in offering help and benefited from the help and affection she received in return. Preparing for the end of her life, she said she preferred practical giving over receiving flowers.
Ilse admired Fred Hollows and the Foundation's work for the significant difference its eyecare could bring to those who would otherwise miss out.
