October Update.Hey everyone, just an update from me... I just finished running my biggest month for the year tipping over 120km for the month of October. I slotted in a half marathon and a 25km which has has got the legs in good shape. Not long to go now and bracing myself for the big day. A huge thanks to all that have donated thus far and for the ongoing support. Until the next update, keep on smiling and running!
My Running Journey
This upcoming November I am very delighted to announce I will be running my debut Marathon (40km) with the Quick As Thieves Music Community to raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation.
There have been close to 300 people from Melbournes Music Industry challenging and supporting one another to promote their health / wellbeing by committing to a half or full marathon run November 25th. Amongst these people are some dear friends and colleagues of mine which I have worked closely with for near 10 years now. It has been so inspiring to see them achieve their goals in running which some of them never deemed possible, despite the lockdowns taking their toll here in Melbourne. The human spirit has been very high amongst this community.
For me to have gotten my body into good enough condition for this run has been a life-changing challenge which stems as far back as 3 years ago. In that time I have recovered from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) which was the result of a mountain bike accident in 2019. And then just 14 months later from severe damage to my lower right leg where a work accident occurred. I can’t even begin to fathom the amount of doctor and physio appointments I have had to endure over that time. Not to mention the on-going mental and emotional strain throughout the journey. However from significant support, hard work and dedication here I stand, counting my blessings with every step I take.
This is where my journey continues as I will be raising money with my beloved music community for the Fred Hollows Foundation where I have set the goal of raising $2000. To live in this beautiful country of Australia, where I acknowledge the traditional owners on whose land we are located, the Wurundjeri-Woiwurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nation, we are so very privileged. So for as little as 25 dollars we can impact those suffering from Cataracts Disease and restore the eye sight of those living in the worlds most developing countries, and literally change their lives forever. If you’re in a position to donate then please share to this page.
I am extremely grateful for the on-going support I have received over my journey, and this is only the beginning. Every donation made here will help support me achieve my new life goal of running a full marathon, which I never deemed possible and give me one last push to make a difference.
