Changing Lives
Recently I travelled to Nepal and had cataract surgery from Dr Sanduk Ruit at Nijgadh Tilganga Community Eye Hospital.
It was so inspiring I have made a big fundraising goal to make a difference. Using $25 an eye as a starting point, $20,000 would fix 800 eyes..
I went back to have my surgery in Nepal as 30 years before I had met Dr Ruit as a journalist at an eye camp in a valley in Nepal. I never forgot his skill and his humanity and the trust the patients had in him. Many had carried their blind for days to the camp. A cataract operation was a miracle that restored sight instantly.
He has since done 150,000 cataracts and the day I was operated on would have done 30 or more.
Nepal is a developing country and one of the poorest in the world with a population of 29.6 million. The country faces significant challenges in eye health. Approximately 80% of blindness in Nepal is treatable, with cataract accounting for two-thirds of all blindness in the country.

A simple procedure costing as little as $25 in most developing countries can help restore their sight and their dignity. They can again contribute meaningfully and change their lives and the lives of their families and communities for ever!
Together we can make a difference!
Thank you for your support

Wonderful work they do!
