Half Marathon for Fred Hollows
Over the past few years, a group of people from the Melbourne electronic music community have taken part in an endurance running event to get fit and raise money for the The Fred Hollows Foundation.
This year it was meant to be the Great Ocean Road Run Festival in May. Cue COVID, the event was postponed to August, then cancelled all together. Mike Toner from Thick As Thieves had already lined up over 100 people to run and collectively raise $100K for Fred Hollows.
So, being Mike Toner, he kept every single one of us on our training game through lockdown then organised his own dang event.
On 4 December, we will all run either a half, full or ultra marathon. I’m doing the half (my 2nd ever!) and trying to raise $1000.
Just $25 enables the Foundation to restore sight to a needlessly blind person. Please check out Fred’s story and the work of the Foundation if you want to see their impact in action, it’s incredibly moving stuff.
