Lap of NSW Adventure (Part of the 75th VSCCA Anniversary)

This adventure will re-enact the journeys of pre-war motoring pioneers and revive the excitement and unpredictability of “vintage” motoring.  We will enjoy springtime in the outback, the locals, the sights and smells.  Recent rains will bring out the beauty of nature.

This will be a 15-day challenge of 5000 km around the perimeter of NSW.  No daily deadlines or convoy, just a 1937 car on its own.

Departing Sydney on 12 September, down the beautiful South Coast to Eden then up the mountains to Jindabyne and down to Batlow and Wagga.

Join the 75th Anniversary Rally for dinner on Saturday 14th, the Sunday activities and the 75th dinner on Sunday night.

Monday morning drive West along the mighty Murray to Swan Hill and Mildura where the river changes to the Darling.

Meet the old car club in Broken Hill and visit the art galleries and mine.

Then up the Darling to Wilcannia, Bourke, Walgett, Moree, Goondiwindi, Tenterfield and the Pacific Ocean at Tweed Heads.

Down the beautiful coastal towns all the way to finish in Sydney on 28th.

We decided to support The Fred Hollows Foundation as it has a strong regional presence where its services are desperately needed.  We know many rural people love old machines and we may be able to raise the need for the sight-giving operation. Fred is buried in Bourke where we will make an emotional stop. 100% of the funds raised on this page will go to The Foundation.

The organisers, Noel McIntosh (78) and Rob Everett (78), drove the 15,000km 60th VSCCA Anniversary Around Australia Rally in 6 weeks in a veteran 1913 Vauxhall.  That rally got much publicity for the VSCC and chosen charity.  It was shown in TV segments in Sydney, Ch9s Morning Show, Darwin, Perth etc. as well as featuring in many newspapers and magazines.

Noel and Rob are experienced long distance adventurers.  Rob did the London to Sydney rally, 3 Targa Tasmania and crossed the Nullarbor 5 times, 3 before asphalt.  Rob is from Australian motoring royalty whose grandfather was a well-known 1920s motoring adventurer and record holder.

Noel has driven his 1913 Vauxhall across Europe, Russia, Japan, USA, UK, South Africa and 1988 Darwin to Adelaide.  He drove his 1933 Rolls-Royce 5500km around Japan.

We believe sight enables people to be fully part of their family, school and society.
My father and grandfather both lost their sight towards the end of their lives so we are hoping to help other old people retain their vision.

Thank you to my Supporters
